Marrakech → Merzouga → Fes
Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour
A one-way crossing between Morocco's two great cities, with the Sahara in the middle — no backtracking, no repeated roads.
If you are flying into one city and out of the other, this is the route that makes the journey between them the best part of the trip.
From Marrakech you cross the High Atlas by the Tizi n'Tichka pass, visit Aït Ben Haddou and continue through Ouarzazate and the Dades valley. The second day runs through the Todra gorges to Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes, with a night at a desert camp. From the desert the road turns north through the Ziz valley, Midelt, the cedar forests of Azrou and Ifrane, arriving in Fes in the evening.
We operate this crossing over three and four days.

Frequently asked
Three days or four days?
Both cross the country through the desert. The three-day version is faster and involves longer days in the vehicle; the four-day version adds time in the valleys and around the dunes.
Do we end in Fes itself?
Yes — the route finishes at your accommodation in Fes, so you can continue your trip from there or fly home from Fes.
What is the drive like?
Long but varied: the Atlas passes, the kasbah road, the gorges, and on the final day the Ziz valley, the cedar forests of Azrou and Ifrane before Fes.
