A desert tour in Morocco is really a road trip: mountain passes, palm oases, earthen kasbahs and gorges, with the dunes as the destination.

Most of our desert routes cross the Tizi n'Tichka pass, stop at the UNESCO-listed kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, and continue through Ouarzazate, Skoura, the Dades valley and the Todra gorges before reaching Merzouga and the dunes of Erg Chebbi. A smaller number head south-west instead, towards the wilder Erg Chigaga.

How many days do I need for a Morocco desert tour?

Three days is the shortest realistic route to Merzouga and back, and it involves long driving days. Four or five days gives you more time in the dunes and the valleys along the way.

Do I sleep in the desert?

On the desert routes, yes — a night in the dunes is part of the itinerary. The exact camp and what is included is listed on each tour page.

Camel or 4x4 into the dunes?

Both are offered on the Merzouga routes. Each tour page states which transfers into the desert are included.
